Noordzee Terminal
Download factsheetIn the 1980s, an important step was taken towards securing the continued development of the port of Antwerp. While the entire port had until then developed behind a series of locks, the decision was made to extend the port further to the north and to construct a terminal before the locks.
The Europa Terminal was officially opened in 1990. In 1997 a second terminal followed: the Noordzee Terminal. Both terminals are located on the right bank and are quite similar in terms of organization and infrastructure.
For ships docking at these terminals, this can quickly add up to time savings of 4 to 6 hours, compared with terminals inside the lock complex.
